HIJADA FESTIVAL Koovagam- Ajilal's photo exhibition Part I
koovagam village. A day before the annual Hijada Festival

The village of Koovagam is next to Ulundurpet taluk in Villupuram district. The Koothandavar temple is situated in this village. This is the only temple for eunuchs, and their family deity is the Koothandavar.
The pictures show the village the day before the grand festival. soon the village will see the surge of men and women and wives of god taking control of this calm village atmosphere.
Every year during the Chaithra Festival, Eunachs from different corners of India assemble here to celebrate themselves. at the climax of the festival they submit themselves as the wives of the God as their only way of salvation from the all the bitter experiences of ill treatment from the society at large.
These pictures are taken by V C Ajilal, award winning Photographer presently stationed at Calicut, Keralam. Now he is working as news photographer with Varthamanam daily. A BFA holder in Painting, Ajilal has travelled extensively in India.
this is the first part of a series of Koovagam photographs by Ajilal. Do drop in again to see the rarest pictures from the festival ground in the coming days.
for those who came late, here are Ajilal's previous photo exhibitions in eenthappana.

Kudos to Aji. These are the great examples for his exceptional lens magic. I am a fan of Ajilal's "Nirangalil Sepia" (Varthamanam Daily). He dare to focuss the "continuity mistakes" of our lives. Thank you Ranjith.

Hi! I realize this is somewhat off-topic however I
had to ask. Does managing a well-established website like yours take a
lot of work? I'm completely new to operating a blog but I do write in my diary on a daily basis. I'd like to start a blog so
I can easily share my experience and feelings
online. Please let me know if you have any kind of suggestions or tips
for brand new aspiring blog owners. Appreciate it!

When I originally commented I seem to have clicked on
the -Notify me when new comments are added- checkbox and now every time
a comment is added I receive 4 emails with the exact
same comment. Is there a means you are able to remove me from that service?
Cheers!
